M47 Patton Combat Tank

This 1953 Model M47 Patton Combat Tank can be found Litchville, ND about 20 miles off I-94, south of Valley City, North Dakota. The M47 was the last U.S. tank to have a "bow mounted" machine gun in the hull. The large turret bustle housed the radio and ventilator. There was no computerized fire control system. In service only a short time, it was replaced by the M48 Patton. The M47 had a poor range with a gas engine. Large numbers were supplied to NATO countries. Many are still in service internationally.
